TOUR DE GUELPH

Over the last few weeks we’ve been digging into the changing market conditions and the impact this will have on you as a buyer or seller.   The uncertainty in the Canadian economy and similar challenges worldwide will continue to be the driving forces in our local real estate market.

As circumstances continue to shift, our message to our clients is clear: control what you can in your personal choices around real estate. Buy what you can comfortably afford, make your real estate and home ownership decisions based upon your long-term goals, and accept that there will always be market risk and factors beyond your control. There is no ‘secret sauce’, no perfect time to make a move – stay clear on your high-level goals and don’t let low-level shifts dictate your course of action.

The meat and potatoes of today’s blog post is actually a video podcast I did with Dan Johanis of Pekoe Mortgages. We chat about shifting market conditions, and our predictions and advice for this market. Let us know your thoughts and feedback!

Before you go: next weekend is the annual Tour de Guelph community ride in support of the Foundation of the Guelph General Hospital and Guelph Rotary clubs programs.  Home Group Realty has been a long-term supporter of this event, and as always we have a team riding again this year.

This year, proceeds raised from Tour de Guelph will help Guelph General Hospital purchase three new ultrasound machines. Ultrasounds are a crucial part of modern medicine – each year, the Hospital does more than 25,000 scans! The recommended lifespan of an ultrasound machine is seven years, and more than half of Guelph General’s machines are over a decade old. New ultrasound equipment produces incredibly sharp images, and that means that doctors can diagnose problems more accurately. Also, upgrading will put state-of-the-art scanners in every exam room, which will dramatically improve workflow, allowing technologists to see more patients in a day.

In addition to supporting the Hospital, every year, many local groups aimed at youth development, family support, and community building are supported by Tour de Guelph proceeds through the Rotary Clubs of Guelph South and Guelph Trillium. Two great groups we’re supporting this year are the West Willow Village Community Association and Brain Injury Association Waterloo-Wellington (BIAWW) Bike Helmet Program.

I will be riding in support of my community. Please consider supporting our team with a donation – or, join our team and ride next Sunday, June 26th! Find the donation page below.
